The IDF gave notice early this morning (Thursday) of its intention to demolish the home of one of the two terrorists who carried out the stabbing attack in Kafr Qasm, in which the late Reuven Schmerling was murdered. The notice includes the option to evacuate the premises within a few days or to submit a request prior to the building’s demolition.

As reported earlier this month by JOL, two Palestinians from Qabatiya were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the murder of the late 70-year-old Reuven Schmerling, whose body was found in a storage unit in Kafr Qasim on Sukkot Eve. The Shin Bet, which investigated the murder together with the Israel Police, announced that the investigation indicated that the crime was nationalistically motivated.

More than 1,000 people attended the funeral of Schmerling, an Israeli man from the West Bank settlement of Elkana. Before the Shin Bet ruled that Schmerling was murdered because he was Israeli, his family members said that they were certain his murder was nationalistically motivated.
