The IDF is considering tougher measures against Palestinians who fly flammable kites into Israeli territory.

Over the past few weeks, Palestinian protesters have been flying kites loaded with flammable material over the Gaza border. In some cases, such kites have started fires and caused damage to agriculture after landing in southern Israel.

A senior IDF official told Israel News Company on Thursday that these kites are seen by the army as a form of terrorism and will be treated as such.

Maj. Avichai Adraee, an IDF spokesperson in charge of the Arabic-language media department, tweeted on Thursday that flammable kites are "not a children's game," adding that the IDF holds Hamas accountable for everything that happens in Gaza.
