India will be participating for the first time in the biennial Blue Flag exercise held by the Israeli Air Force.

The large-scale exercise, set to start next week at the Ovda military base in southern Israel, will simulate extreme aerial warfare conditions. Some of the most advanced air forces in the world will take part in it, including those of the US, France and Italy.

The diplomatic relations between India and Israel have strengthened recently, a fact that led to India's first-ever participation in the exercise.

In July, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first leader of his country ever to visit Israel.
