Senior-level IDF officers expelled after weapons robbery in Givati base

After 33 weapons guns were stolen from an IDF base several months ago, the former brigade commander and his deputy were reprimanded and several other officers were removed from their positions.

Several months after 33 guns were stolen from the IDF Givati Brigade’s warehouse, the investigation results were published. Following the investigation, former Givati Brigade Commander Yaron Finkelman, his deputy at the time and 3 other officers were reprimanded. In addition, following the investigation, the base commander and the commander of the Emergency Warehouse Unit at the time were removed from their positions.

The investigation’s results determined that contract workers cooperating with criminals were responsible for the robbery. No proof of any soldier’s involvement was found. Following the incident, the security protocols were changed in all IDF bases and a new procedure was set for the security-classification of contractors employed in military bases.

Most of those involved in the robbery were arrested and so far over half of the stolen weapons were returned.
