Surprising IDF delegation to Russia competes in cooking competitionA unique IDF delegation of 10 cooks and bakers travelled to Russia for a cooking competition between militaries.
A special IDF delegation set out to prove that the Israeli military makes the best food. 10 members, including a chef, cooks and bakers, set out to participate in an annual international cooking competition in Russia.
“We received a request from the Israeli attaché in Russia to participate in this competition,” explained the head of the delegation Major Yifat Edri. “Our cooks departed to Russia to show how special and diverse Israeli food is.”
The IDF delegation met cooks from the militaries of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Mongolia, Serbia and Russia. Each team from each country had members who were appointed as judges and ranked the teams’ achievements in the various challenges.
In the first part of the competition, the teams had to cook their local foods. In the second part, they had to cook their dishes with ingredients provided by the hosts. The last part was based on baking. Although the Israeli delegation didn’t win, it received a lot of positive feedback and learned about different cultures and militaries.
