The manhunt after Abed al-Karim Adel Asi, the terrorist who murdered Itamar Ben-Gal in Ariel on Monday, continues into Tuesday. A Hamas-affiliated television network reported on Tuesday evening that large numbers of IDF forces operating inside Nablus have encircled the home of Adel Asi’s father on the eastern side of the city. According to local reports, the IDF forces recently left Nablus after arresting anywhere between four to seven Palestinian suspects.
Eye witnesses reported 15 Israeli military vehicles entering Nablus, after which they heard gun shots from the area of the encircled home. Clashes between Palestinians and IDF forces erupted in several areas within the city in response to the IDF operation. According to Palestinian reports, 20 rioters were arrested by Israeli security forces.
Dozens of Shin Bet and IDF personnel have been working since Monday as part of the manhunt after the Ariel terrorist. The task force is carrying out arrests and interrogations in order to piece together an overall picture regarding the whereabouts of the terrorist.
As reported earlier on Tuesday by JOL, authorities are still trying to figure out what made Abed al-Karim Adel Asi, 19, run towards Itamar Ben Gal, a father of four, and stab him mercilessly in the chest. According to a man who knew Asi from one of the facilities for unprivileged youth he had been through, Asi was well liked among the staff and the other teens. "When I heard the name, I was shocked," the man said.
