Jerusalem Police stated that prior to the terror attack, they had never heard of Mattar, he had never been involved in terrorism and had never been arrested in connection to terrorist activities. It is believed that he carried out the terror attack on a whim. Israeli security forces raided Mattar’s home this morning arresting his parents and two brothers, who were brought in for questioning. The family was asked if they were aware of his intentions to carry out the terror attack.
