After going on a stabbing spree on Hagai Street in the Old City of Jerusalem, Ghazal reportedly fled the scene and attempted to hide in a nearby apartment building. Police officers chased after him and confronted him, at which point the policemen opened fire and eliminated him. However, this happened only after he managed to slightly to moderately wound two 18-year-old yeshiva students and a Border Patrol officer.
Magen David Adom medics rushed the victims to awaiting ambulances and evacuated them to Hadassah Ein Karem and Shaare Zedek Hospitals in Jerusalem for continued medical treatment.
