A Palestinian terrorist arrived at the Karni crossing early Sunday morning, hidden by the morning fog, and attempted to remove a security camera from its place before being caught by IDF forces and taken in for questioning. The Israeli military stated that the terrorist belongs to Hamas.

“This was yet another act of terror by which the Hamas terrorist group attempted to infiltrate Israel and harm its citizens,” said the IDF spokesman in response to the incident. “Hamas is trying to dress up its terrorist activity in civilian clothes and make the area into a fighting zone.”

Over the weekend, the IDF attacked six targets deep in the Gaza Strip in retaliation for the massive riot at the Karni crossing on Friday. The riots quickly escalated with hundreds trying to sabotage the border fence by using explosives and hand grenades.

This year, the first Friday of the holy month of Ramadan takes place during the same week of Nakba Day and the US embassy move to Jerusalem. Ahead of these events, tensions appear to be rising in the area as Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh continues to call for terrorists to cross the border and carry out attacks in Israel.

“We’ve seen an escalation in violence in the past five weeks. We are managing the situation differently to prevent more casualties, but the other side is growing bolder by the week. Any act of violence will be answered by us in the Gaza Strip,” warned IDF officials.

“The IDF knows about their intent to carry out attacks and therefore we are showing them the price of losing by attacking Hamas navy targets,” they added. “We have all the tools at our disposal.”
