Arab MK: Netanyahu ‘ordered the escalation ahead of time’

Aida Touma-Suleiman of the Joint Arab List has accused the Israeli government of being responsible for the developments in northern Israel on Saturday morning. “It’s no surprise that we’ve reached the current situation,” she explained. “Netanyahu is prepared to cause a regional war in which the region’s nations will pay a heavy price just to preserve his political survival.”

Joint Arab List MK Aida Touma-Suleiman has blamed Israel for the escalated tensions along the Israeli-Syrian border, claiming that the “right-wing Israeli government ordered the escalation ahead of time.”

“The events in the north are especially concerning because every war in the region is a needless war that will extract a heavy price and we need to stop it in advance,” she stated. According to Touma-Suleiman, Israel caused the grave situation “with countless violations of Syrian and Lebanese sovereignty, violations of UN resolutions, shameful cooperation with extremist groups and with repeated attacks in Syria—it’s no surprise that we’ve reached the current situation.”

The Arab MK then linked the attacks in Syria to the developments in the graft investigations into Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Netanyahu and his government are up to their necks with the corruption affairs,” she stated. “Netanyahu is prepared to do everything in order to distract [the public]…Netanyahu is prepared to cause a regional war in which the region’s nations will pay a heavy price just to preserve his political survival.”
