Last night (Thursday), Israeli Education Minister Naftali Bennett stated that he intends to promote a strategic solution for regulating the settlements in the West Bank and called for his supporters to get ready “to sacrifice themselves.” In response, Opposition leader MK Isaac Herzog said that “Bennett's call could lead to a civil war.”

"His words are going to lead to the division of Jerusalem and international isolation," Herzog added. He also said that even though Bennett clarified his interpretation of the phrase “to sacrifice themselves,” it is still a very loaded statement and people may interpret it differently.

MK Tzipi Livni also attacked Bennett on her Facebook page saying, "I am willing to sacrifice my life to the existence of the Jewish and democratic state of Israel and that is why I am willing to continue to fight Bennett's and the settlers' dream because that dream will become a nightmare for all of Israel."

Earlier today, Bennett clarified his statement in a tweet: “To all those wondering: to sacrifice your life = to work very hard for the goal.”
