Brother of Hadar Goldin accuses Lieberman of avoiding his responsibilities

The brother of an IDF soldier who fell during Operation Protective Edge but whose body is being held captive by Hamas harshly criticized Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman. “There has never been a defense minister who harmed the bereaved families so much through the television,” said Tzur Goldin.

Tzur Goldin, the brother of the late Hadar Goldin, spoke out against Lieberman this morning (Tuesday). Recently, it was reported that Lieberman said during a closed discussion that the bodies of Hadar and Oron Shaul will not be returned from Gaza because he is not willing to make a deal with Hamas.

“There has never been a defense minister who harmed the bereaved families so much through the television,” said Tzur in a radio interview. “He forgot the value of comradeship and ethical code of the IDF and this breaks our hearts. This is how I feel.”

“[People are] giving up on Hadar and Oron,” Tzur stated. “They are being abandon. I expect that the Prime Minister will clarify his position regarding this matter.”

“Hadar fought and fell for our protection,” added Tzur. “We need to pressure Hamas and fight for Hadar and Oron. Lieberman said that he is afraid to release terrorists [being held in Israeli prisons] and thus, he is not fighting for the soldiers. He is giving up on Hadar and Oron. This constitutes avoiding responsibility, [being] weak and a lack of leadership.”

Tzur directly addressed Lieberman and said: “Take responsibility because you are dodging it. We aren’t demanding the release of prisoners and terrorists. Israel has many ways to leverage Gaza.”
