Compensation for Amona residents: Housing units in Binyamin

The Israeli government approved the building of 98 new housing units in Binyamin that are supposed to house the residents of Amona who are expected to be evacuated soon.

The Israeli government approved the construction of 98 housing units near the Shvut Rachel settlement in Binyamin. The new units are meant to be used to house the residents of Amona who are expected to be evacuated soon.

The construction plan was approved on Wednesday by the Supreme Planning Committee. The plan contains an option to continue the expansions to 200 additional housing units and an industrial area.

Although the construction is officially an expansion of Shvut Rachel, left wing organizations insist that this action is a part of a plan to establish a new settlement.

Residents of Amona told Channel 2 News that they do not accept the government's alternative and that they are awaiting a different court ruling.
