While Israeli politicians from the left-wing and right-wing criticized the recent UNESCO resolution that questions the Jewish people’s connection to the holy sites in Jerusalem, former Prime Minister Ehud Barak chose to condemn Netanyahu. According to Barak, Netanyahu is responsible for the controversial resolution.

Barak commented on the UNESCO resolution in a tweet: “A baseless decision that was supported by Russia and China. It is the Netanyahu’s monumental failure on the international front.”

As reported today by JOL News, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova issued an official statement regarding the resolution today via the organization’s website. In the statement, Bokova wrote that the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Temple Mount are holy sites for Muslims while the nearby Western Wall is “the holiest place in Judaism.”
