Heated argument between MKs escalates
Former PM Ehud Barak says Netanyahu's conduct reminds him of The GodfatherThe former Prime Minister and Labor leader said the reality of multiple investigations surrounding Netanyahu and many of his close confidants bares resemblence to a mafia movie, adding that he thinks Netanyahu should have resigned by now.
Israel's former Prime Minister Ehud Barak said Tuesday the multiple investigations involving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and many of his close associates remind him of a mafia movie.
"Everyone surrounding Netanyahu is deeply involved in probes, and the man in the middle remains 'clean' for now," Barak said in an interview with Channel 2 News. "We all know why this looks familiar – it reminds us of The Godfather."
Earlier on Tuesday, it was revealed that Yitzhak Molcho, Netanyahu's long-time special envoy and former chief negotiator, is a suspect in the probe into the German submarine purchase deal.
Barak added that Netanyahu's current situation is enough to merit his resignation. "A man involved in two active investigations at once cannot function as Prime Minister," he said.
Though he stated he does not intend to return to politics, Barak said he is choosing to speak up because of "a strong desire for the public to wake up."
