The Israeli government on Friday approved the state budget for 2019, which includes social reforms meant to reduce the cost of living among other steps.
The 2019 budget, which the cabinet approved unanimously, will be NIS 397.3 billion, out of which about NIS 60 billion will go to education and NIS 63 billion to defense. Healthcare will get NIS 38 billion.
Other reforms in the budget include shortening the work week, allowing provisions that promote a bigger competition in the television market and raising the monthly stipend of disabled Israelis.
"The government approved an excellent budget today," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. "This government will continue to work together for the benefit of the country for a long time, until the end of its term."
