Jason Greenblatt, the US Middle East envoy, has met with the parents of IDF officer Hadar Goldin, the US administration said Thursday. Goldin was killed during the 2014 Gaza military conflict and his body is still being held by Hamas.

After the meeting, Greenblatt tweeted a sharp condemnation of Hamas' refusal to return Goldin's body to Israel. "Met with Leah and Simcha Goldin to express my deep sympathy on the loss of Hadar," Greenblatt wrote. "Shame on Hamas for their inhumane actions."

"Mr. Greenblatt shared his sincere hope and prayer that their son's remains would soon be returned," said the US administration's statement.
