MK Orly Levy-Abekasis announces new party
Nir Hefetz claimed four high level Likud officials abused their powerIn his testimony to Israel Police, Nir Hefetz said he worked with four high level Likud officials, among them two ministers, two advance issues that benefited them. These new details may lead to a separate investigation.
Nir Hefetz, a former top advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is currently giving his testimony to the Israel Police as part of his states’ witness deal. The testimony includes the names of four high ranking Likud members, among them two MKs, the Israeli News Agency Yediyot Achronot reported.
Hefetz’s testimony raises suspicions of malfeasances in the Health and Environmental Protection Agencies, where Hefetz worked with the four Likud members to change regulations in the health, real estate and environmental protection that would benefit said members. These new details may lead to separate investigations.
Israeli Minister of Environmental Protection Ze’ev Elkin commented today on Hefetz’s testimony. “I have no idea what he’s talking about,” Elkin said to IDF radio. “To the best of my memory, I had no contact with Nir Hefetz in the last six months on any issue that concerned the Ministry of Environmental Protection. I don’t know what time period he is talking about. In any official capacity, I act in accordance with public interest.”
The new information provided by Hefetz will be passed on to investigators. After a full testimony and subsequent report is written, it will be passed on to Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelbit, who will decide whether to prosecute the four Likud officials.
