Coalition agrees: Israeli Broadcasting Corporation to be launched on April 30After a heated dispute between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, the heads of the coalition political parties agreed that the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation will be launched as planned on April 30, meaning that the Israel Broadcasting Authority will be shut down within the next month and a half.
Amid the heated dispute within the Israeli government and the protest against the closure of the Israel Broadcasting Authority, the heads of the coalition political parties decided that the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation will be launched as planned on April 30. According to the agreement that was reached, in exchange for the corporation being launched on time, the law regarding media regulations that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed will be approved.
The agreement about the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation’s launch date comes after Netanyahu said last night that it is not too late to prevent the corporation from being launched. Netanyahu called on Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon to cooperate and postpone the launch by half a year. Kahlon refused and stated at a conference in Tel Aviv this morning that his relationship with Netanyahu has changed over the past few weeks.
This morning, dozens of Israeli Broadcasting Corporation’s employees protested in Jerusalem against the plan to shut down their place of work.
