“Such images must not be seen again,” This morning (Monday), Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman responded to the video that was released of Palestinians attacking an Israel Border Police jeep in the West Bank.

“Over the past few days, we were exposed to footage that I would never want to see on TV,” Lieberman stated in response to yesterday’s incident. “The forces didn’t act as they should have. There is a very clear protocol and I would’ve expected that in this situation the Border Police forces or the IDF would act accordingly- first shoot at the air and then at the feet.”

He also commented on the coalition’s calls for annexation and warned of the implications: “We received a direct message that Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank will mean an immediate crisis with the new US administration…I’m stating this very clearly- we need to separate from the Palestinians and not absorb them into our territory. Absorbing 2.7 million Palestinians means that from the first day, we will have to pay them 20 billion shekels from Social Security.”
