Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman has banned Swiss diplomats from entering into the Gaza Strip via Israel after they met with Hamas leaders.

Lieberman ordered to question a group of Swiss government representatives after learning about their meetings with Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, two of Hamas' top leaders. Until the questioning is completed, Lieberman decided not to allow any foreign delegations to enter Gaza.

Switzerland's special Middle East peace envoy Roland Steininger met with Haniyeh two weeks ago. The Swiss consul in Ramallah met with Sinwar on Monday.
