Israeli Minister of Defense Avigdor Lieberman requested from Coalition Chairman MK David Bitan to issue an order requiring all Coalition political party leaders to boycott the Joint Arab List MKs at the Knesset. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed with the notion and decided to already boycott the Joint Arab List members' speeches. These actions came after the Joint Arab List members boycotted former Israeli President Shimon Peres' funeral.

In a meeting with the heads of the political parties in Netanyahu's office today (Sunday), Lieberman said that the Joint Arab List members' decision to boycott the funeral crossed the line. He also said that these members proved that there is no reason to talk or even argue with them. Lieberman asked one of his political party members to talk with the Opposition members in order to see whether they would support this initiative.

Joint Arab List Chairman Ayman Odeh responded: "This is a new level of lowliness from the man whose entire legacy is built on hate. Lieberman's attempts to hurt the Arab citizens' political representation backfire on him and made us stronger. His attempts to scare only strengthen our party. We will continue to work to promote peace and equality."
