After Hamas threatened to avenge the elimination of senior level Hamas terrorist Mazen Fukha, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman today blamed the Gazan terror group for his death. During a visit to Sderot, he stated: “Hamas is known for its internal assassinations. Let them look there.”

Lieberman rejected outright claims that Israel was involved in the elimination of Fukha: “It does not matter what Hamas says. It is important what the Jews do. Hamas is known as perhaps the most extremist body in the Arab world. They will do what they want and we will do what we need to do, and to search for them.”

The Israeli Defense Minister also related to the construction of an underground barrier in the Gaza Strip: “The wall is being built at a good pace and of good quality. Everything is progressing. Nothing is lacking. There are no bureaucratic obstacles and there is nothing lacking in the budget. The issue is progressing.”

Regarding the increased tensions in the South, Lieberman proclaimed: “We are not looking for adventures. We run our security policy responsibly and with determination. We do everything we have to do. We have no reason to change policy. Everything is being conducted well both in relations to security and other fields.”
