Amid the decision to suspend the plan to create an egalitarian section at the Western Wall and the passing of the Conversion Law, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman criticized the Haredi political parties on Monday. “This is religious coercion and an attempt to transform the State of Israel from a Zionist state to a Halachic state,” he said.

“These things are unacceptable to us,” Lieberman said. “We filed an appeal with the Ministerial Committee for Legislation. I recommend to take advantage of this break and rethink. I call on my friends in the sane right-wing to join us regarding the Conversion Law.”
