Ya’alon establishes new political party in Israel
Will Ma’ale Adumim annexation bill pass during Trump envoy’s visit to Israel? The bill for approving the annexation of Ma’ale Adumim will once again be brought to discussion before the Knesset while US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for international negotiations visits Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Israeli political officials have warned against doing so during Greenblatt’s visit.
US President Donald Trump’s envoy for international negotiations Jason Greenblatt is supposed to begin his round of meetings today (Monday) in Jerusalem and Ramallah. Meanwhile, a bill expected to be brought up during the Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation meeting tomorrow is worrying Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office and other Israeli political officials.
The Knesset Land of Israel Lobby chairmen MK Yoav Kisch (Likud) and MK Bezalel Smotrich (Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi) decided to leave the bill for the annexation of Ma’ale Adumim on the Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation’s table so as not to allow for the committee to postpone it further. They are currently requesting that the committee vote on approving the bill and progress with legislation procedures.
On the other hand, Israeli political officials claim that voting on the bill during Greenblatt’s visit could relay a message that would harm the relationship between the US and Israel. According to the officials, voting on the bill during Greenblatt’s visit could be seen as Israel calling the shots on the matter.
