Today (Monday), Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit told MK Oren Hazan (Likud) that he has decided to prosecute him for assaulting a public servant and for improper behavior.

The affair started following a physical altercation between Hazan and the Director General of the Ariel Municipality in 2014, when the latter decided to freeze Hazan’s mother’s bank account as a result of a property tax debt on the family business.

Mandelblit clarified that according to the law, the controversial MK has 30 days to request immunity from the Knesset. Hazan’s attorney responded: “We received with regret, disappointment and even astonishment the decision of the Attorney General to indict MK Hazan for an argument that took place years ago between two politicians, long before his election to the Knesset.”
