Netanyahu: Israeli Broadcasting Corporation welcomes supporters of terrorists

Last week, an Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reporter shared a tweet praising a Palestinian terrorist who was eliminated by Israeli security forces. She was suspended but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is claiming that she should have been fired: “The left-wing corporation chooses to make room for the supporters of terrorists.”

After it was decided to suspend Arab journalist Samah Wattad, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, also known as KAN. “What will public broadcasting look like under the corporation?” Netanyahu wrote in a Facebook post. “A reporter from the left-wing corporation praised a terrorist. You would have expected her to be fired. No, she was just ‘suspended.’”

Yesterday, KAN announced that Wattad has been suspended until further notice. “The left-wing corporation chooses to make room for the supporters of terrorists,” Netanyahu added in his post. Last week, Wattad retweeted a tweet about a Palestinian terrorist who was eliminated by Israeli security forces. The tweet read: “‘The intellectual is the first to fight’ and never gives up.”

“Even though this is a private Twitter account of the employee, we view this with great seriousness and she was summoned by her superiors to clarify her actions,” KAN stated.

“Samah Wattad was suspended from submitting content to the corporation until further notice after it was clarified to her the severity of the tweet she shared and its implications,” explained KAN in a statement. “Wattad claimed that her retweet of the tweet in no way implies the encouragement of its content and that she does not advocate or support violence in any form.”
