Ehud Barak blames Netanyahu for UNESCO resolution
Israeli Prime Minister criticizes B’Tselem for its remarks yesterdayIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu harshly criticized the B’Tselem representative’s attendance at the UN Security Council yesterday. “What these organizations are unable to obtain through democratic Israeli elections, they attempt to obtain through international coercion,” Netanyahu said.
As reported yesterday (Friday) by JOL, a B’Tselem representative attended a special UN Security Council meeting, where he claimed that Israel’s policy in the West Bank is cruel. “This is a delusional and transient organization that has joined the slanderous chorus against Israel,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu harshly criticized the organization in response.
Furthermore, an Americans for Peace Now representative was present at yesterday’s UN Security Council meeting along with the B’Tselem envoy. Netanyahu wrote a Facebook post in which he addressed yesterday’s meeting stressing that the two organizations have reused the false argument that the so-called “occupation” and settlements are the cause of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“The truth is that the Palestinians attacked the Jews for half a century before there was a single settlement,” Netanyahu wrote. “They continue to attack Israel from the Gaza Strip even after we completely withdrew from it. They attack us from the West Bank while not only demanding those territories, but also the right of return to Jaffa, Acre and Haifa,” Netanyahu continued. “They substantiate these demands with murderous incitement that they have aimed at us since the country’s establishment.”

According to Netanyahu, these facts prove that the source of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not the so-called “occupation” and settlements, but rather the persistent Palestinian refusal to recognize a Jewish state within any boundaries. “Yesterday, B’Tselem’s Executive Director implored the UN Security Council to take action against Israel,” Netanyahu added. “What these organizations are unable to obtain through democratic Israeli elections, they attempt to obtain through international coercion.”
