Netanyahu vows Israel will respond to Gaza aggression with ‘forceful response’

While in Ashkelon on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a warning to Hamas: “Every act of aggression from terrorist groups will be met with a determined and forceful response from our side.” He also blamed the ruling power in Gaza for the crises in the coastal enclave.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the escalating tensions along Israel’s southern border on Tuesday, saying that Israel will not tolerate any violations of its sovereignty by terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip.

“When we left the Gaza Strip, there was still the slightest hope among some people that the other side would choose to embark on the course of a peaceful life,” Netanyahu said while in Ashkelon for the dedication ceremony of a new emergency room at the city’s hospital. “It turned out very quickly that the fears were actually realistic. The Hamas regime and the terrorist groups have turned the Gaza Strip into a barrel bomb. We build hospitals while they build terror tunnels and rockets.”

“We have no desire to harm the Gazan residents’ normal routine of life but they must know that Israel is not responsible for their misery,” Netanyahu stated. “The responsibility lies entirely with the extremists who lead it [Gaza].”

Netanyahu added that the IDF will not tolerate any attempts to disrupt the lives of Israel’s citizens. “Every act of aggression from terrorist groups will be met with a determined and forceful response from our side,” he stressed. “We will not tolerate spillover fire, drizzling [of rockets], bombs along the border like there was last weekend. Whoever harms us will get hurt. Those who don’t act to calm the situation but choose to fan the flames will bear the responsibility.”
