As reported earlier on JOL, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sat down today (Sunday) with Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump. The meeting took place at New York's Trump Tower.
The Prime Minister's Office stated that the meeting between the two lasted more than an hour and that the Israeli Ambassador to the US and Trump's son-in-law also participated in the meeting.
"The Prime Minister presented to Mr. Trump Israel's stance according to Israel's security and its attempts to reach peace and stability in our region,” stated Netanyahu's office. “The Prime Minister also thanked Mr. Trump for his friendship and support of Israel."
Trump's campaign stated: "The two discussed the special relationship between the countries, security issues and regional stability. Trump agrees that the military aid agreement is an excellent investment for America."
“Mr. Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed at length Israel's successful experience with a security fence that helped secure its borders,” continued the statement released by Trump’s campaign. “He agreed with Prime Minister Netanyahu that the Israeli people want a just and lasting peace with their neighbors but that peace will only come when the Palestinians renounce hatred and violence and accept Israel as a Jewish State. Finally, Mr. Trump acknowledged that Jerusalem has been the eternal capital of the Jewish People for over 3,000 years.”
