“The relations between Israel and the US are stronger than ever and I would like to take this opportunity and thank President Trump again for the decision to relocate the US embassy to Jerusalem, which will occur in the coming days,” Netanyahu added.
Pompeo was sworn into office on Thursday as the replacement for Rex Tillerson. Shortly after his inauguration, Pompeo left for a NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels where he repeated President’s Donald Trump pledge to withdraw from the nuclear agreement with Iran unless vital changes are made.
On Saturday, Pompeo arrived at King Salman Air-Base in Riyadh and was greeted by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir. A day earlier, Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen fired missiles at Saudi Arabia's southern city of Jizan, killing one person.
