Netanyahu meets with Litzman, Kahlon to reach compromise
Netanyahu warns Iran deal could lead to Middle East nuclearizationAccording to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the nuclear deal with Iran could spark a nuclear arms race in the region, and the way to prevent the nuclearization of the Middle East “is to either thoroughly correct the agreement or abrogate it.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Sunday that additional countries in the Middle East want to enrich uranium because the nuclear deal with Iran allows Tehran to do so. Speaking prior to the beginning of this week’s government meeting, Netanyahu said that the deal could lead to the nuclearization of the Middle East.
“Many countries in the Middle East are saying that they are also allowed to enrich uranium if Iran is allowed to do so; therefore, the way to prevent this danger, the nuclearization of the Middle East, is to either thoroughly correct the agreement or abrogate it,” Netanyahu stated, according to a press release issued by his office. “Moreover, I remind you that Iran declares, on an almost daily basis – including recently, its intention to wipe out the State of Israel. It is hardly worth saying that we will not allow this, to put it mildly.”
Netanyahu began his public comments by mentioning his trip to the United States for the 2018 AIPAC policy conference and fifth meeting with US President Donald Trump, whom he called “a great friend of Israel.” The prime minister added that he encouraged the hundreds of businesspeople he met in the US to invest in Israel.
