Government to examine plan to move facilities from central Israel to artificial islands

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered to set up a team of professionals that would examine a plan to build artificial islands in the Mediterranean in order to relocate infrastructure facilities from central Israel.

The government is considering a plan to build artificial islands in the Mediterranean Sea for the purpose of clearing up land for construction in central Israel by relocating infrastructure facilities, Israel News Company reported Wednesday.

According to the report, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered to set up a team of professionals that would examine the move. The team will be headed by Avi Simhon, the head of the National Economic Council.

Among the facilities slated for relocation are the Reading Power Station in Tel Aviv, facilities for desalination of water and more.
