Nearly half of the Israeli public thinks Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu needs to step down following the police's recommendations to indict him in two corruption cases, according to a new poll conducted by Midgam and iPanel.
48% of the poll-takers said Netanyahu should resign, 36% said he shouldn't and 16% had no opinion on the matter. Out of those who voted for Netanyahu's Likud party in the last election, 19% said they believe Netanyahu should step down.
When it comes to political support, though, Netanyahu remains strong. According to the poll, his Likud party would remain the party with the most Knesset seats, 26, if an election were held today. Coming in second is Yair Lapid's Yesh Atid with 22 seats.
