Following the dramatic developments concerning the Submarine Affair and the questioning of senior-level Israeli government officials, Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his close associates: “It’s not just a corrupt affair, it’s damage to the country’s security, money from the security establishment returned to the private pockets of the people closest to the prime minister.”

Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyau today (Monday) concerning the six suspects who were questioned as part of the Submarine Affair, including Avriel Bar-Yosef, who was appointed by Netanyahu to head the National Security Council (NSC). “The police detained suspects from the prime minister’s close associates within the Submarine Affair,” said Lapid at the beginning of his faction’s meeting. “It’s not just a corrupt affair, it’s damage to the country’s security.”

Lapid stated that the investigation is still ongoing, but the information that has already been published is enough to determine that this is corruption: “It’s the submarine shady business plan - the money of the security establishment, of our soldiers, left Israel, entered bank accounts in Germany and Cyprus that nobody knows about and returned to the private pockets of the people closest to the prime minister.”

“The government corruption is gnawing at our national strength, but it’s worse than that,” Lapid continued. “It’s our security. It’s the holy of holies.”
