Switzerland responds to Israeli ban following Hamas meeting

After Israel banned Swiss diplomats from entering Gaza due to their meeting with Hamas leaders, the Swiss embassy in Israel stated that is in touch with authorities to try to find a solution.

Yesterday (Tuesday), it was revealed that Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman has banned Swiss diplomats from entering into Gaza via Israel after they met with Hamas leaders.

Following the publication, the Swiss embassy in Israel responded: ‘We are aware of the report in the Israeli media regarding the authorities’ decision. We are in touch with the relevant authorities in order to clarify the situation to find a solution.’

Lieberman ordered to question the group of Swiss government representatives after learning about their meetings with Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, two of Hamas’ top leaders. Until the questioning is completed, Lieberman decided not to allow any Swiss delegation to enter Gaza.
