Netanyahu not invited to go with Trump to Western Wall as US official says it’s part of West BankSix days before US President Donald Trump lands in Israel for his first trip, a severe dispute is transpiring behind the scenes regarding the President’s future visit to the Western Wall. A senior-level US government official made an irregular statement concerning Israel: “The Western Wall is not your territory.” The Israeli government is infuriated and is convinced that this conflicts with the President’s policy regarding the matter.
Just a few days before US President Donald Trump’s historic trip to Israel, an unprecedented dispute was discovered between the President and Israeli officials. According to the report, the Israeli trip organizers requested to photograph Trump upon his visit to the Western Wall. In response, a senior-level American government official claimed that the Western Wall “is not your territory.”
Officials from the Israeli Prime Minister’s office asked Trump administration officials if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may accompany the President to the Western Wall, to which the Americans responded that it will be a private visit.
The Israeli officials also requested if an Israeli TV crew may accompany Trump in order to document the moment, to which the American official rudely answered: “What are you talking about? It’s none of your business. It’s not even part of your responsibility. It’s not your territory. It’s part of the West Bank.”
This American government official’s statement allegedly caused a storm among the Israeli trip organizing staff. Channel 2 News reported that intense shouting and protests could be heard from the room. The Israeli government clarified with the American government officials that the Western Wall is considered sacred territory and is under Israeli sovereignty.
