Three US military trainers were killed today (Friday) after they were shot at the entrance to a military base in Southern Jordan. An official Jordanian news agency reported that the service members arrived at the entrance to the King Faisal Airbase in al-Jafr and did not respond when they were told to pull over. The US embassy in Jordan confirmed the report.

After they did not stop, they were shot and killed and an investigation was started. According to a Jordanian military official, there was an exchange of fire at the entrance to the base after the American service men attempted to enter the place and failed to stop. A Jordanian guard was also injured in the incident.

Hundreds of US service members are currently in Jordan and since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Washington has spent millions of dollars to help guard Jordan’s borders from terrorist forces.
