83-year-old Gene Wilder passes away

The famous actor passed away at the age of 83 last night. Gene Wilder was suffering from Alzheimer’s and died due to complications related to the disease.

American-Jewish actor Gene Wilder passed away last night (Monday) at the age of 83. Wilder, who was born Jerome Silberman, had been suffering from Alzheimer’s and passed away due to complications related to the disease. In addition to being an actor, Wilder was a screenwriter, director and author.

Wilder started his career as a stage actor but soon became a movie actor, starring in iconic films. Wilder was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Leopold Bloom in the 1968 film the Producers. However, Wilder was probably best known for his role as Willy Wonka in the 1971 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory film.
