At least 34 people were killed in two deadly car accidents around the world. 20 kids were killed in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa when their minibus collided with a truck. Earlier, 14 farmers were killed in India when a drunk truck driver hit a group of demonstrators outside a police station.
According to reports, the accident in South Africa occurred when a minibus driving 20 school students collided with a truck and exploded.
Earlier, a drunk truck driver collided into a group of farmers who gathered outside a police station in Yerpedu in India’s southern Andhra Pradesh State to demonstrate. According to the local police chief, the truck driver first hit an electricity pole and most of the demonstrators were killed as a result of the electric wires.
“The driver of the lorry was drunk – he drove in a rash manner and hit an electrical pole just next to the police station,” the police chief told Reuters. “There is no terror link. It is a pure accident case. He is a local driver.”
“Pained by the loss of lives due to an accident,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted. “Condolences to families of the deceased and prayers with the injured.”
