500,000 attend anti-terror march at La Rambla following terror attacks

Spanish King Felipe VI, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and Generalitat of Catalonia President Carles Puigdemont joined 500,000 people during an anti-terror march at La Rambla street, where the devastating car-ramming attack occurred a week and a half ago.

“We are not afraid” are the words 500,000 people shouted this evening (Saturday) in the heart of Barcelona during an anti-terror march just a week and a half following the devastating terror attacks, in which 15 people were murdered.

Spanish King Felipe VI, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and Generalitat of Catalonia President Carles Puigdemont marched alongside the thousands of citizens and business owners at La Rambla street. This is the first public demonstration in which a Spanish monarch has participated.

The masses waved Catalan flags as red, yellow and white flowers were handed out to represent the colors of the Spanish flag. Members of the Spanish Muslim community also joined the masses to show their support. “We must learn how to speak with one another and to understand one another,” said one of the demonstrators. “Everyone needs to learn how to be more human.”
