Last week, the Swedish Academy decided to award this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature to American singer, songwriter and artist Bob Dylan. However, the Swedish Academy recently announced that it has given up in attempting to contact the latest Nobel laureate in literature.

“Right now we are doing nothing,” said Sara Danius, the Swedish Academy permanent secretary. “I have called and sent emails to his closest collaborator and received very friendly replies. For now, that is certainly enough.”

Dylan has chosen not to publicly comment on the honor. When he was performing in front of a large crowd in Las Vegas on the day that the Swedish Academy announced its decision, he did not make any remark regarding the subject.

Dylan has until December 10th, when the award ceremony will take place in Stockholm, Sweden. Some of the award ceremony organizers are afraid that Dylan will not show up for the ceremony. However, Danius said: “I am not at all worried. I think he will show up.”
