British Airways suffers severe IT malfunction, no flights departing from LondonAll British Airways flights from London have been cancelled and many other flights from other destinations are suffering from severe delays following a serious malfunction to the airline’s computer system.
Today (Saturday), airline company British Airways announced the cancellation of all flights departing from Heathrow and Gatwick in London due to a severe computer system malfunction. As a result, other flights of the airline around the world have suffered from serious delays.
It is still unknown who caused the problem, although according to one of the passengers, the pilot called it “catastrophic”. According to the company, there is no evidence of a cyber-attack. Passengers were asked not to arrive at the London airports as the grounded airplanes have created large traffic on the runways.
We apologise for the current IT systems outage. We are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.— British Airways (@British_Airways) May 27, 2017
The most serious delays happened at Terminal 5 in Heathrow. Some of the passengers reported being stuck on the airplane for hours before finally leaving the runway.
