Twins conjoined at the head successfully separated13-month-old Anias and Jadon McDonald were successfully separated from each other at a children’s hospital in New York. The two were born conjoined at the head.
It was a special day at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center today (Friday) after two conjoined twins were successfully separated from each other. Anias and Jadon McDonald were born conjoined at the head. The surgery took doctors 16.5 hours.
The parents of the twins, who are just 13 months old, were faced with the most difficult decision because the procedure carried several serious risks including the possibility of death. Nicole, the excited mother, updated her Facebook status after the surgery was complete: “TWO SEPARATE BABIES!!!...and yet I ache with the uncertainty of the future. I didn't cry until the surgeons left the room. I was barely able to even utter the words 'thank you' because of the pit that still sits heavy in my stomach. We are standing on the brink of a vast unknown.”
