The DNC interim chairwoman announced last night (Tuesday) that the organization’s computers were hacked once again by Russian hackers. According to the DNC interim chairwoman, the hackers are backed by the Russian government that is trying to influence the outcome of the upcoming US presidential election in favor of Republican candidate Donald Trump. In July, a similar hack was reported and as a result, former DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned.

The hack was discovered when a link to the documents was uploaded to Wikileaks and the website’s official Twitter account. A Russian hacker who goes by the name Guccifer 2.0 uploaded the documents that he claimed were from the DNC computer network. “There’s one person who stands to benefit from these criminal acts and that’s Donald Trump," DNC interim chairwoman Donna Brazile said in a statement. “Not only has Trump embraced Russian President Vladimir Putin, he publicly encouraged further Russian espionage to help his campaign.”
