Philippine President sings love song to POTUS

The Philippine President has been called the “Trump of the East” and much like his American counterpart, he expresses himself hastily and is used to dealing with scandals on a daily basis. The two are currently meeting in Manila and during a celebratory event, Duterte broke into a song to Trump: “You are the light of my world.” During their conversation, the two focused on their mutual criticism of Obama, abandoning the topic of human rights.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and US President Donald Trump met today (Monday) in what many are calling a look in the mirror for the two leaders, as Duterte has been called the “Trump of the East.” The Philippine President’s Office released an official statement following the meeting that was held in Manila, saying that the subject of human rights was not touched upon at all, despite Washington’s request that Duterte utilize restraint in managing his country’s war on drugs.

Duterte’s spokesman, Harry Roque, stated that Trump appreciates the efforts that Duterte’s government is taking against drug dealers in the Philippines. “The two presidents agree on their views about President Obama and their relationship is warm and friendly,” Roque added.

Yesterday, the two presidents sat with 17 additional leaders at a special gala in Manila ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit set to be held in Vietnam. Duterte shocked the audience when he took the microphone and broke into a song by local pop star Pilita Corrales. The Philippine President dedicated the Filipino hit love song “Ikaw” (You) to Trump, which includes the lyrics “You are the light of my world, half of my heart.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, I sang uninvited, upon the orders of the commander-in-chief of the United States,” Duterte said, according to ABC news.
