Tens of thousands of people were evacuated from their homes in the center of Ukraine on Wednesday because of a huge explosion at an ammunition warehouse in a military base. Ukrainian emergency services said the base was located 167 miles west of the capital, Kiev.
Over 30,000 people were evacuated from the area and one person was reported injured. In addition, the electricity and gas lines in the area have been cut off.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman arrived at the scene and said that "outside elements" were behind the explosion. Groysman added that the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
This past March, some 20,000 people were evacuated from their homes in the eastern province of Kharkiv due to a series of explosions in a military warehouse. The Ukrainian military prosecutor claimed afterwards that the explosion was caused by an act of sabotage.
