Multiple sources inside the FBI have admitted that the recent series of leaks was a deliberate effort to damage Hillary Clinton's campaign due to deep feelings of hatred towards her that exist within the bureau, the Guardian reported on Friday.

"The FBI is Trumpland," one current agent reportedly said. None of the quoted FBI officials, both former and current, were willing to speak on the record.

The strong anti-Clinton atmosphere was further intensified following director James Comey's decision not to recommend an indictment over the US Democratic presidential nominee's use of a private email server.

At the same time, other FBI officials painted a slightly different picture. "There are lots of people who don’t think Trump is qualified, but also believe Clinton is corrupt," said one former agent. "What you hear a lot is that it’s a bad choice, between an incompetent and a corrupt politician."
