According to reports in the German media, the shooter opened fire on a group of police officers patrolling the U-Bahn station. The incident took place at the Unterfoehring station in Munich. Police have called on the public to refrain from coming to the station until it became clear whether the incident was over.
Local police stated the situation has been secured and according to initial reports from Bavaria, the police do not believe the shooting was a terror attack.
Last December, 12 people were killed and more than 50 wounded when a truck plowed through a bustling Christmas market in the German capital in what is believed to have been a terrorist attack.
