At least 10,000 people have been evacuated from homes and camping sites along the French Riviera after a fire broke out there.

The hot and dry weather has caused several wildfires in France over the past days. The new blaze is raging near a popular resort in Bormes-les-Mimosas.

The Sun's travel editor, Lisa Minot, said, "We could see the flames just behind the campsite and we were told to evacuate right down on to the beach."

More than 4,000 firefighters are working to put out the fire, but they say the situation is "not under control" due to the multiple locations. France has asked the European Union for assistance.
